Swedish Machine Exhibition excels in hard times Print E-mail
The Swedish market is down, international exhibitions loose 20-50 percent of their visitors – and yet Swedish MaskinExpo breaks new records. Scandinavia’s largest exhibition for building and construction seems unaffected by the current market drop. MaskinExpo 2009 opened on May 14th and set a new record with 493 exhibitors.

ImageFor three days Barkarby Airfield in Stockholm was the meeting point for more than 25 000 trade people. The exhibitors showed over 100 new products, and attendees were able to test drive competitors excavators, wheel loaders, lifts and grass mowers in realistic surroundings. The monster truck Thor crushed used cars, Sweden’s best machine operator was crowned, and Sweden’s leading Trial artist showed his skills at the buzzling exhibition.
Attractions apart, business was really good. Over the years MaskinExpo has been renowned as an exhibition where people actually do business – 2009 was no exception.
One exhibitor that has sold hydraulic hammers at MaskinExpo for the last 20 years claim that business this year was better than ever.
People claim that the market has gone down, he says. I tell you, if there indeed is a crisis, it is definitely not here at MaskinExpo! The happy exhibitor sold more equipment in this year’s exhibition than in any other year.

MaskinExpo is a yearly event, the exhibition is arranged in May in Barkarby Airfield just outside of Stockholm. The exhibition is arranged in cooperation with MaskinLeverantorerna, the Swedish trade association for suppliers of mobile machines. 500 companies exhibit the newest products in building, construction, road maintenance, crushing, park and landscaping and light commercial vehicles

This year’s exhibition was a success and the staff is already planning for next year.
