These shows are all directly sponsored by the CECE (the Committee for European Construction Equipment). SAMOTER is held every three years in Verona, Italy, alternating with BAUMA in Munich and INTERMAT in Paris. ■ SAMOTER 2008 hosted 1,026 exhibitor companies (from 37 countries) and over 106,857 trade visitors (from 108 countries):
Statistics are audited by German trade show data certification agency FKM, (Gesellschaft zur Freiwilligen Kontrolle von Messe - und Ausstellungszahlen) ■ Samoter is an increasingly international show. Over 30% of Samoter’s 2008 exhibitors came from outside Italy, a 10% increase over SAMOTER 2005. Foreign trade professionals visiting the 2008 show were up by 16%, to over 10% of the total number of visitors. This growth was largely due to substantial increases from Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East/Central Asia. ■ A survey of SAMOTER 2008 visitors indicates that over 75% are responsible for buying decisions within their companies. INNOVATIONS AT SAMOTER 2011 Samoter - lastly - is also a full-scale virtual exhibition: operators and exhibitors can "link" to the site www.samoter.com and experience the event through Internet. Many innovations on the international stage at the 28th SAMOTER, the three-yearly International Exhibition of Earth Moving, Site and Building Industry Machinery scheduled 2-6 March 2011 at VeronaFiere. Samoter confirms its role as a privileged place for analysis and trade in a field experiencing continual evolution and as a landmark for the development of the international industrial system.Focus on sustainable construction. The new edition of Samoter comes to the fore with a leitmotif of major current interest: sustainability. The objective of the event is to provide an occasion for awareness, training and in-depth analysis of all aspects of sustainability: safety and attention to building processes, the relationship between the environment and the economy, standards and laws for sites, products and tools, ethics and design. Over the two years prior to the next Samoter, focus events, conventions and initiatives will be organised on the topic, in collaboration with Marmomacc. Awards. Since 1973, the exhibition has hosted the Samoter International Award, a highly-regarded and sought-after prize for operators in the field (assigned for distinction in the development and success of building and site activity on a national and international scale), thereby becoming the home to technological innovation and scientific research. This award is joined by the Samoter Innovation Competition, which rewards exhibiting companies presenting previews during SAMOTER of the constructional and functional innovations introduced in their production. This very important initiative rewards the results of innovative investments and offers entrepreneurs and technicians in these sectors documented information about technical-construction and functional developments affecting various aspects of site operations. The award is assigned in relation to innovations and/or improvements concerning energy saving, productivity, ergonomics, safety in use as well as other aspects which in any case ensure added value for products. The traditional award - that celebrates its 20th anniversary precisely in 2011 - will now be joined by a section dedicated to sustainability. SAMOTER SPECIALS The 2011 edition will once again promote SAMOTER SPECIALS: approaches dedicated to individual trade sectors such as earth moving, concrete, road building, drilling, crushing, hoisting, vehicles and components. Every single sector is specifically differentiated in graphic terms to help visitors and exhibitors identify their points of interest; all 8 sectors are identified by graphic symbols and colours to facilitate recognition. Theme days dedicated to every sector will flank theme-related itineraries through dynamic events, seminars and conventions. International promotion. An intense programme of international engagements will see Samoter attend the most important sector exhibitions and events in Europe, the Arab Emirates, Qatar, Russia, Brazil, Iran, Turkey, China, India, Algeria and Egypt. The web site and graphics have been completely revamped, alongside promotional tools in as many as 14 languages, to ensure effective contacts with the broadest possible number of visitors: in particular, Italian, English, French, German and Spanish are now joined for the first time by Rumanian, Polish, Croatian, Serbian, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Turkish and Portuguese. Organisational work also continues for Samoter Tour, a travelling initiative that since 2006 has ensured effective support for the internationalisation processes of small-medium Italian businesses building construction machinery, organised by VeronaFiere in collaboration with sector trade associations and the banking system, with the support of ICE. Samoter Tour travelled to Bulgaria (September 2006), Poland (May 2007), Russia (June 2007), Rumania (November 2007) and Russia (June 2008). The project will set off again in Autumn 2009 with visits to Turkey, Russia and North Africa. Partners. Partners in the forefront: VeronaFiere has signed collaboration agreements with ANCE (National Builders Association) and AFM – the ANCE managerial training division – for the development and promotion of joint initiatives in Italy and abroad. Collaboration will continue with the Steering Committee of the event as a workshop of ideas, support and know-how - fundamental tools for the growth and development of the exhibition event as such in its role as a strategic partner for the sector. The Committee comprises AISEM (Italian Hoisting, Lifting and Handling Systems Association), ANFIA (National Association of Automobile Industries), ASCOMAC Cantiermacchine (National Machinery Trade Federation), COMAMOTER (Earth moving machinery manufacturers) and UCOMESA (Union of Building, Road, Mining and Related Machinery Manufacturers) - as well as the Scientific Committee with AIF (Association of Foundation Companies), AISEM, ANCE, ANEPLA (National Association of Stone Quarriers and Related Industries), ANFIA, ANIM (National Association of Mining Environment and Territory Engineers), ASCOMAC Cantiermacchine, ASSODIMI (Association of Industrial Machinery Distributors-Hirers), ATECAP (Technical-Economic Pre-Fabricated Concrete Association) COMAMOTER, IMAMOTER (Institute for Agricultural and Earth Moving Machinery), IPAF (International Powered Access Federation), SIG (Italian Tunnelling Society), SITEB (Italian Association of Road Asphalt Bitumen) and UCOMESA. |
