With a tail swing radius of just 1.850mm the PW148-8 is the ideal solution for work in tight places. Operators can now concentrate on their job in complete safety for themselves and nearby workers, and with no worry for surrounding buildings or vehicles. Whisper-quiet yet powerful, the Komatsu ecot3 SAA4D107E-1 tier 3 common rail engine in this compact excavator puts out 86 kW at 2200 rpm. Driving performance is improved for excellent slope climbing performance, and travelling fuel-consumption is reduced by up to 15%.

As all Dash 8 models, the PW148-8 offers unrivalled machine management, top class comfort and a safe working environment. The exceptionally comfortable seat was specially designed for wheeled machines. The roomy Space Cab® comes standard with fully automatic climate control. Vibrations and noise levels are kept at a class leading minimum thanks to the viscous damper cabin mounting.

Large panoramic windows guarantee an excellent all-round visibility, further supported by a standard rear-view camera. With a fingertip command on the right joystick, the operator can get a perfect image of the area behind the machine on a large 11" colour monitor. The new easy-to-use interface of the Equipment Management and Monitoring System (EMMS), can also be accessed on this screen, where all essential machine functions are monitored and can be set in the blink of an eye.

The ergonomic joysticks with proportional controls were recently redesigned and are specially developed for work with a wheeled excavator. Due to their horizontal orientation they allow safe and precise operation of hydraulic driven attachments. The oscillating axle can instantly be locked manually with a simple touch of a button on the left joystick. All PW148-8 excavators are equipped with cruise control for comfortable long distance travel.

Komatsu machines are always designed for easy maintenance and the PW148-8 is no exception. The regular engine service points, greasing points and filters are centralized, and they are quickly -and safely- accessible at ground level.

KOMTRAX™, Komatsu’s satellite monitoring system, is fitted as standard on the PW148-8. This exclusive system helps to monitor all the essential machine information directly through the internet on a remote computer. A variety of search parameters are available to precisely determine the machine’s status: it can be tracked in the field and its output can be optimized through increased efficiency and pro-active maintenance.

KOMTRAX™ is a tool that helps to manage a whole fleet of Komatsu machines easily and cost effectively.
